Junior Aka Tattoojunior311 from Central City Tattoo

Tell us a bit about yourself?

Hey everyone! Junior here! I am a tattoo artist and owner of Central City Tattoo Whittier.

How did you get started on your journey?

I have been drawing since I was a kid. I was always that one kid who drew in school.

13 years ago I had the opportunity to take a tattoo apprenticeship and everything took off from there. My dream did come true when my wife and I opened our first tattoo shop,  Central City Tattoo Whittier.

What have been some of the obstacles you’ve encountered on your journey?

Before I opened my shop I asked another artist and owner, "What was the hardest part about being an owner?" I thought he was going to say paying the bills or something like that. But he told me that the hardest part was saying goodbye to people who you consider friends. Artists always come and artists always go. It's always hard and it sucks when they leave. Paying the bills is the easy part...

What have been some of your most memorable moments of this journey, if any?

OH MAN! Where do I start? Everything from doing conventions with some really awesome artists to tattooing some really great designs, sometimes in really weird places. Every tattoo that I do is memorable and so much fun.  Right now I get a kick out of working with my wife. Seeing her at the shop is always a memorable moment.

Do you have any advice for people who want to maybe get into a business/hobby/career like yours?

Yes, DON'T QUIT! Don't ever quit! Don't worry about what other people say about you or your art. Everyone's art is different. The moment you start listening to others is the moment you start doubting yourself. So DONT QUIT!

Where can we follow you?

Tell us your favorite...

Psshhhh.... Batman! Of course!

Psshhh... Joker!

Probably the Killing Joke. But DC did come out with the One Bad Day Series

My go to movie is always Goodfellas. Or, The Founder with Michael Keaton.

“You can not achieve success without the risk of failure. If you are not afraid to fail, than you have a chance, but you are never going to get there unless you risk it.”

oh and

“That’s not a prediction, that’s a spoiler.”

Every tattoo that I do is memorable and so much fun. Right now I get a kick out of working with my wife. Seeing her at the shop is always a memorable moment.
